The world is facing the global COVID-19 pandemic which has led to over 3.15 million deaths. However, an even larger number of nearly 41 million people die prematurely every year due to NCDs. National governments, supported by the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations, and multilateral development banks, are at the forefront of this challenge.

Our research shows that underlying NCD mortalities have a causal link to COVID-19 case fatality rates. However, as per WHO research, the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the delivery of NCD care services in over 75% of countries around the world. 

It is our pleasure to invite you to participate in our high-level panel discussion on “Uninterrupted Health Services for NCDs during the COVID-19 crisis” on the margins of the 74th World Health Assembly on Tuesday, 25 May 2021. The purpose of this event is to call on governments to take action on ensuring uninterrupted NCD care during challenging times where political commitment is even more needed.
