Under the patronage of His Excellency President Adama Barrow, The Ministry of Health of The Gambia in collaboration with The Defeat-NCD Partnership have the pleasure to launch the National Multi Sectoral Strategy and Costed Action Plan for Non- Communicable Disease Prevention and Control in the Gambia.
This event is bringing together high-level representatives across government, development partners, private sector, academia, civil society organisations, and NCD advocate patients and groups to mark the launch of this national strategy and its costed action plan. The National Multi Sectoral Strategy and Costed Action Plan for NCD Prevention and Control in the Gambia was developed through collaborative and highly participatory effort across all partners in the country.
Launching and endorsing the strategy and its action plan is a step forward for the successful scale-up of NCD services across The Gambia and towards achieving prosperous, healthy, and wealthy Gambia, relived from the unnecessary burden of NCDs. The Gambia is committed to take serious actions towards achieving the sustainable development goal 3.4.
This event aims to create awareness of the strategy and its costed action plan to all partners supporting the control of NCDs and their risk factors, and to garner support from all the stakeholders and partners to fully implement and fund this action plan.
The event is the first meeting of this national multi-sectoral group which will be meeting bi-annually to ensure multi-stakeholder continued collaboration, across sectors, and to report to all partners progress in implementing this action plan.
